Gallery Rental Information

Planning a special celebration, corporate event, or holiday party? The Robert Lincoln Levy Gallery offers the perfect venue for your next gathering. With its unique blend of contemporary art and versatile spaces, this downtown location is an ideal setting for your event.

Venue Highlights

  • Size & Layout: Over 2,000 square feet of space, featuring a welcoming entrance area and two separate galleries with a flexible floor plan suitable for celebrations, socializing, or networking.

  • Capacity: Accommodates up to 75 guests, depending on the current exhibitions.

  • Floor Plan: A unique horseshoe design allows for distinct areas dedicated to socializing, food and beverages, and entertainment.

  • Accessibility: Our historic, single-floor venue is wheelchair accessible via a portable ramp. One unisex bathroom is available.

  • Technology: Includes a Sonos Bluetooth speaker and a portable microphone for use during your event.

  • Furniture: Available furniture includes 30 folding chairs, two six-foot tables, three cocktail high-tops, and three 2’x4’ rectangular tables. Black tablecloths are provided, or you may bring your own linens and decorations.

Artistic Ambiance The gallery features rotating exhibitions of the region’s best contemporary artwork. Decorations aren’t necessary—your event will be surrounded by inspiring art. We’re happy to provide details about the exhibitions and artists on display during your event.

Convenient Location Located in Portsmouth’s vibrant South End, the gallery is near popular attractions such as Strawbery Banke Museum, Prescott Park, and The Gundalow Company. Ample metered parking is available on State Street and at the nearby 1 Harbour Place parking lot.

Rental Policies

  • Pricing: $350 per hour, with a two-hour minimum and a five-hour maximum.

  • Deposit: A 50% deposit is required to secure your reservation. This deposit will be credited toward your balance unless damages occur.

  • Non-Profit Discounts: Eligible non-profit organizations and business start-ups less than two years old may qualify for a sliding scale based on their annual budget. Contact us for details.

  • Cancellations: Events canceled within two weeks of their scheduled date incur a $100 cancellation fee, withheld from the deposit.

  • Payment Terms: The remaining balance is due the day before your event. Additional charges for extended time or cleaning are due within five business days post-event.

Event Guidelines

  • Set-Up & Clean-Up: One hour is allocated for set-up before the event and one hour for clean-up afterward. Events exceeding this timeframe will incur additional charges of $350 per hour, billed in half-hour increments.

  • Furniture: NHAA staff will set up tables and chairs provided by the gallery. Additional rented furniture must be set up and broken down by you or your caterers.

  • Food & Beverages: The gallery does not provide catering. You may bring your own food and beverages or hire a caterer. We can recommend local caterers. Beer and wine are the only permitted alcoholic beverages.

  • Trash & Waste: All trash and recyclables must be removed after your event. We encourage environmentally friendly practices and the use of compostable or biodegradable disposables. NHAA does not provide a dumpster or refrigeration facilities.

Additional Information

  • Evening events must end by 9:00 PM to allow for clean-up and closure by 10:00 PM. Overtime charges apply for events exceeding this timeframe.

  • Deliveries and pick-ups of rented equipment must be coordinated with NHAA staff. We are unable to store rental items overnight.
