Christine Andrews
Christine Andrews is a multi-media artist who draws inspiration from her deep connection to New Hampshire’s forests and natural areas. Growing up in suburban NH, she found solace in the small patch of forest behind her childhood home, a place that ignited her creativity and fostered a lifelong love of nature. After initially pursuing art in college, Christine’s curiosity led her to earn a biology degree. Her fieldwork, which included tracking mammals and studying forest ecosystems, continues to inform her artistic practice. For over a decade, she balanced her role as an educator in biological sciences with her passion for art. Recently she decided to focus fully on her art career.
Christine’s artwork hints at the evidence of transition and connection through the colors of a transitioning sky, the unique structure of a tree or animal tracks in the snow. The works also tell her story of exploring the landscape using trail maps as a foundation for the images. She uses vibrantly colored, transparent India inks layered and mixed directly on the surface that allow the maps to remain visible, providing a constant connection to place while she creates.
Christine’s work has been featured in juried art fairs and exhibitions across New Hampshire. Through her art, she seeks to inspire viewers to find their own story in the landscape, fostering appreciation and stewardship of the forests and ecosystems she cherishes.
