Carmela Azzaro

Carmela is a Pennsylvania native. Her father always appreciated her talents and encouraged her to pursue an art degree at Indiana University of Pennsylvania. She came to New Hampshire in 1969 when her husband, Samuel, was hired at Keene State College as a ceramic professor. This was a turning point in her artistic life. She was surrounded by the artwork and instruction by KSC's art professors.

Carmela's artwork is well-known in the Monadnock Region of New Hampshire and surrounding areas. For 32 years she taught art in the Keene Public Schools. She is a member of the New Hampshire Art Association and the Monadnock Artist Association. In 2017, Azzaro was the recipient of the Ruth & James Ewing Arts Award; Biennial Regional Jurors' Choice Competition at the Thorne Art Gallery and a featured artist in the Newport NH Library Arts Center, Selections Invitational Exhibition. Most recently Azzaro exhibited her work at the West LA Brewery Gallery and the Keene Art Walk.
