Karen Battles creates collage and mixed media art in Portsmouth, NH. After years of collecting ephemera for her graphic design practice, she began using vintage papers to create abstract art works. She works intuitively, employing techniques including, collage, encaustic, cold wax painting and printmaking in combination with found materials.
Karen is a member of the New Hampshire Art Association and the Newburyport Art Association, as well as Abstract Artist Group of New England. She has participated in numerous group shows in NH and MA. A frequent source of inspiration are travel and artist workshops.
