Todd Bezold

The coastal environments and deep woodlands of New England are rich with refracted light, and intimate enclosed spaces surrounding pools and streams. I depict these subjects with a mix of gestural brushstrokes and simplified application of color forms, adjusting tonality to imply space. Often these subjects are fractured and abstracted using layers of paint and cutting back into the lower layers. After graduating the University of New Hampshire I settled in Maine working with IDEXX Labs as a scientist and continued painting and working in bronze, a medium I enjoyed at University of Kentucky under Jack Gron and John Tuska. Currently I am represented by the Sharon Weiss Gallery in Columbus Ohio, Bryan Memorial Gallery, Jeffersonville VT, New Hampshire Art Association, in Portsmouth New Hampshire and the VanWard in Ogunquit Maine.
