Carol Van Loon

Carol is a black and white photographer who lives in Dover, NH. Growing up on a farm in western New York she learned to see using her dad's old camera. Along with her grandmother who introduced her to art and music her sensibilities were formed. After learning the basic of photography in high school she studied photography at Rochester Institute of Technology in Rochester, NY. After college she spent time in Colorado before moving to New Hampshire in 1988.

Some of Carol’s recent photographic projects include “Barns,” a year long healing journey she began after losing her mother. Roaming through farmland in multiple states she photographed barns, creating a book and exhibition to commemorate the vanishing landscape of her childhood. “All About Me” is a series of self portraits bearing her inner thoughts. "The Shop" is a look at a local garage in a recent exhibition along with a companion book. "The Crinoline", another self portrait project was an exhibit and companion book. "Paradise Park" is one her latest projects; a mostly empty trailer park in FL.
