As a young photographer, Tom Cawthon divided his artistic passion between the nature of north Florida and the exciting sports events of a major college town. His love of photography translated into a 40-year career leading teams of commercial designers, photographers and videographers in the corporate sector. Now retired, Cawthon says, “It gives me great satisfaction to circle back to where I started, channeling my life experience back into pure self-expression”.

Tom uses photography to celebrate the universal values he sees in everyday life. His work draws on a wide range of subjects - street life, wildlife, athletics and abstract imagery, and rather than concentrate on one specific style he strives to capture the many moments that give us pause, meaning, comfort, wonder. The gracefulness of a heron hunting its morning meal; the competitive fire of two athletes battling for the ball; the love of a boy faithfully walking his little sister to school; these are the stories I try to tell in a visually pleasing and evocative way.
