Gary Tompkins
Originally from western Massachusetts, Gary Tompkins has made Gilford, New Hampshire his home since 2004. Prior to retirement, he was a Project and Program Manager for 43 years in the aerospace industry. Since 1978 he has worked predominantly with gelatin silver photography on 4x5 film and glass dry plates, processed and printed in a traditional darkroom.
Gary joined the New Hampshire Art Association in 2024. He currently serves on the board of the New Hampshire Center for Photography. When not making photographs, he is a U.S. Forest Service trail maintainer in the Pemigewasset District of the White Mountain National Forest, and a board member of the Appalachian Mountain Club’s Four Thousand Footer Committee.
