Judith-Grace Miller

During my childhood, I was lucky to be able to spend my summers along the NH-ME seacoast. I knew that art was my passion and I was rarely seen without my sketchbook in hand. During my teen years, I began painting holiday murals on the storefront windows for the downtown businesses. I received my BFA from the Rhode Island School of Design, where I majored in graphic design and worked for several advertising agencies and educational book publishers in Boston before transitioning back to painting full time. I paint using oil and am attracted to color temperature and the affect light has on color. I believe it’s much more than value and tonal relationships that make for an exciting painting, but rather color temperature (and of course good design) which play an integral role in the overall mood of a painting. My focus is on the nuances of color relationships within my subject, and I often push these relationships to their limits while translating it all onto canvas.
