Patricia Sevigny-Higgins

Patricia Higgins is a multi-media artist who resides in Kittery Point Maine.  A retired art teacher of 36+ years and is now working in her studio full-time.  Ms. Higgins work is both realistic and abstract, depending on the subject matter she is exploring.  Watercolors have long been a medium she has used and works somewhat realistically in.  Her current work series is entitled "Sticks and Stones".  A deep dive into the surface textures of beach rocks, shells and sticks, in a still-life setting.

She continues to work in acrylics and at times oils, depending on what she needs to say and how it needs to be said.  Skies in a landscape need patience and oils, while the bold opaque colors and layering aspects of acrylics are her choice for larger abstracts.  Her abstracts are considered Mixed Media, as she uses stencils, collage, gel sticks, charcoal and more to create these.

In all of this, Patricia's one goal is to represent the world that excites her as she see's it.  There is really nothing too mundane in our natural world, and "I have a limitless supply of ideas and subjects here in my backyard in Maine".  I believe that we are all connected by nature, it's what each of us see's in that, that is exciting and varied.  One of the things I love the most about my work is listening to people's thoughts about it.
