Susannah Murad
As a representational painter residing in North Hampton, NH, I try to capture the beauty in everyday sights and moments on canvas. While my focus is on local scenery and architecture, I am increasingly drawn to painting people doing people stuff against this gorgeous vista we live in on the NH/MA Seacoast.
I began painting during my youth in North Andover, MA, when I studied art at Monsserrat College and The Governor's Academy. After attending Kenyon College and UMass-Amherst, I took a long break from art for my career as a CPA. I am thrilled to be back to my first love, oil painting, full time since 2019. I am largely self-taught but have been delighted to study with many local artists from whom I’ve learned so much.
I lived in Manhattan for ten years after college, where I had a fulfilling career with Ernst & Young and McGraw-Hill. I am the proud mom of a wonderful fourteen-year-old son, who is often my preferred subject. I met my amazing and supportive husband in the city, playing duplicate bridge. In 2006, we moved to the Seacoast area I so fondly remembered frequenting during my youth. As a returnee from the city, I’m drawn to the bustling activity in small towns, as distinct from the beat of urban life. The vibes feel different, and I try to put that on canvas.
My work is exhibited at NH Art Association, Kittery Art Association, Newburyport Art Association and at various shows in the area. Works are available for purchase on my website.
